October Meeting Minutes |
Hello musicians! Firstly, thank you to all of those who were able to attend tonight’s meeting. We had a wonderful turnout, and I hope you all learned helpful tips to follow in your first year of teaching from our speaker, Dr. Emily Rossin. Secondly, the rest of the minutes contains reminders about national dues and NEKMEA. |
Guest Speaker, Dr. Emily Rossin
Dr. Rossin gave a phenomenal presentation on “Surviving Your Rookie Year” as a first-year teacher. Dr. Rossin explained seven helpful steps to guide you in your first year of teaching.

From our Treasurer:
NATIONAL DUES
National dues are $30 for Kansas collegiate students, you can renew or sign up here.
Make sure you register for Kansas Music Educators Association and not Kentucky. When signing up, join as a "collegiate" member. You must create an account or use your existing login credentials to register and pay. Once you have purchased your membership there will be a receipt. Please keep a screenshot of the receipt for future reference.

NEKMEA District Live Audition Reminder:
We also have a volunteer opportunity, especially if you are not in Marching Band, we could really use your help!
NEKMEA District Auditions are Saturday, November 5th at Eudora Middle School. Any of our NAfME collegiate members are welcome to sign up. You must only sign up for Monitor, Runner, or Registration Table Worker positions because teachers are filling the other job duties. Our members will also have to report by 7:15am to attend a director meeting and help set up. If you choose to attend, plan to dress in slightly more casual business attire (jeans and a nice shirt or khakis and a nice shirt; you could also wear a KU polo).
